Description

At the meeting of South Slope and Greenwood Heights is an apartment unlike the typical fair found in either neighborhood: a SoHo-style two-bed, two-bath loft.

Residence 4 opens with a 600 sq/ft living room. Surrounded by white brick and anchored by gleaming barnwood floors, the space is naturally separated into multiple usable areas thanks to border-bedrooms and a support column near the dining area.

The primary bedroom can fit a queen-sized bed and has an alcove for dresser, desk, etc. It is walled on two sides by frosted glass - ensuring privacy while allowing plenty of light to reach the rest of the apartment. The second bedroom has been split in two, separated by a pocket door. Both can fit a twin-sized bed or the wall between can be removed to create a larger room.

The kitchen is thoughtfully designed, perfect for quiet home cooking or as a platform for entertaining guests. The white upper cabinets are balanced by natural-wood lowers with immaculate white Corian countertops between them. The massive island functions both as a prep space and breakfast bar. The stainless steel appliances include a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, dishwasher and full-sized oven/stove. The stove is fully-vented to the outside. There is a stacked washer/dryer tucked into a closet next to the pantry opposite the island.

Both bathrooms have been recently renovated - the first features a large soaking tub with dual-flush wall-mounted toilet next to it. The second full bathroom comes with a stall shower. The apartment boasts four large closets as well as a (5th) pantry closet next to the kitchen and a (6th) washer-dryer closet.

Located on the second floor of the Northlight, a 7-unit converted factory, there is roof access as well as shared bike storage. There is a freight elevator for furniture move-in/out (not for daily use). All seven residences beam with character and almost never come up for rent. The grocery store is at the corner, the R train is one block down the hill and the F & G trains are seven blocks over.

South Slope and Greenwood Heights play host to some of the best food in South Brooklyn: Luigi's Pizza on 5th ave where they cover the slice in herbs from their backyard garden, Korzo where they deep fry their hamburgers, Lot 2 where upscale meets cozy and Greenwood Park for a pint or several pints.

Greenwood Cemetery is a few blocks away and Olmsted's best work, Prospect Park, is just up the hill. Finally, this year marks the 15th year that 17th Street will play host to the South Slope Derby, an annual soap box races that runs down the block. Yes, it's awesome.

Heat and hot water are included in the monthly rent. Pets on approval.
