Description
Davis, Brody has always been one of the most innovative architectural firms and is best known for the Waterside complex on the East River, the Ruppert Towers project on Third Avenue on the Upper East Side and Central Park Place on West 57th Street, among many other major developments in the city.Although this 134-unit building is only 16 stories tall, it has a very robust personality because of its articulate use of corner windows, slightly cantilevered floors and top floor turreted with bay windows. It has a red brick facade over a limestone base. To maximize water views, some of the windows in the base are recessed into the facade at an angle. In their book, "The A.I.A. Guide to New York City," (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1988), Elliot Willensky and Norval White gave this project one of their highest accolades: "A happy building."
